"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." --C.S. Lewis

ROP update:
On the first two days of Eid in Cairo a mob of hundreds of men swept through downtown attacking and sexually assaulting random girls in an animalistic display that must boggle every mind. Apparently, the utter lack of basic decency, respect for women, or the rule of law was not confined to Ramadan alone - in fact, Ramadan was the only thing suppressing the baser instincts of these men. I feel sick at heart, and may never spend time downtown again, as it seems we women are actively in danger there. Will Cairo one day be like Mogadishu, where every woman is raped before she turns 16?

Somewhere, someplace, a Western feminist is doing her nails...

Thinkin' about scraping that Kerry Edwards bumper-sticker off your rusty Volvo yet?

Talk about your October Surprise!

Political ninja KKKarl Rove at it again somehow melding John Kerry and Rosie O'Donnell's brainwaves. Utterly diabolical.

Ya suppose Rove's got a little John Kerry voodoo doll in his office that he plays with from time to time? Especially on All Hallow's Eve a week before the super-important election? Whatever the case, the evil Rovian undersnuff's working like a charm.

Ole Lurch is in a heap-o trouble this time. Too bad he didn't have his "magic hat" to ward-off Rove's mind-meld thingy. And he shoulda wore it into that nasty press-conference today too. Talk about diggin' holes! It was a disaster in the manner of Zhenjiss Kahn!

I can just picture Rove takin' that Voodoo doll's tiny little foot and shoving it into the tiny Voodoo doll's mouth, and then throwing it back into the bottom drawer of his desk where it's all dark and lonely. Only other thing in that bottom drawer is probably a little tiny Swift Boat with a whole bunch of little tiny pissed-off Swift Boaters to keep ole Lurch company. And if the Republicans retain both houses, he's gonna need him some new friends cause Drapes Pelossi and her nutroots posse are gonna blame it all on him.

Well, maybe if he'd just studied a little harder in school he wouldn't be stuck in this quagmire. Bet Rove's got a little Howard Dean doll stuffed in a Pandora's can of worms too. Can-not-wait for the DNC's official "remarks" on the matter [EEEiiiyoooowooo!].

You know who you are sidebar: Thanks Tom!

Communist Utopia Update

Here's another in a long line of reports you're unlikely to see on the nightly news [why? Because it validates the whole Axis of Evil thingy, ed.]. Austin Bay has a chilling report from the tense Chinese/North Korean border where hapless, starving NoKo refugees - if captured by the Chinese military - are sumarily returned to North Korean soldiers.

Hollywood elites, you know, the hypocrits with 27 car garages, heated swimming pools and a carbon footprint that would make bigfoot blush would deny you and I natural gas to heat our hovels in the dead of winter. This is the very face of liberal hypocracy and a pretty good semblance of how the world would look should they ever regain meaningful power. Pierce Brosnan, what a pant-load.

Roger L. Simon sums it all up nicely:
"Only the Greek playwright's manic disposition could correctly characterize the times in which we live when the semi-sex life of an obscure congressman leads to the downfall of an administration and the rise of Nancy Pelosi (!) as Speaker of the House followed by... what... impeachment hearings? Lysistrata anyone? Meanwhile, does anyone think it is ironic that so-called progressives who excoriated eavesdropping on terrorists are feasting on the publication of supposedly confidential email and IMs? You can forget about privacy. It no longer exists, if it ever did. The Patriot Act, if you think about it, is on some levels a joke, the Constitution a sideshow. The craven and rapacious stalk the corridors of power egged on by a loathesome media as hypocrisy rules and child abuse rears its ugly head with the age of consent debated by people whose only interest is their own ambitions. Meanwhile, lost in the shadows, an enemy whose "Messenger" married a nine -year old watches and waits."

Actually, I'm far less concerned about the threat of the barbaric, psycopathic Islamic Kill-Bots than I am about rampant corruption in Western media. In my life, I've never experienced such breathtaking and patently obvious dishonesty - in both media and politics. It's offensive on so many levels but shocking too; I really never thought it would get this bad in my lifetime.
