Tom McGuire on the NSA situation:
"Look - my inner geek is finding this to be very interesting. But is there any way in the world that the Times can be persuaded that this just might not be in America's best interest, even if it has some slight potential to embarrass Bush?
"I only ask as a concerned citizen; as a vicious partisan, I think the NY Times, in combination with the Moore-Streisand wing of the party, is pushing the Dems off a cliff.
What is the Dem message here? "Oh my gosh, that evil Bush is spying on Al Qaeda and anyone who talks to them - as Democrats, we will never do that!"
Good luck. Let us know how that works out in '06." When Harry Reid stated dramatically "we just killed the Patriot Act" I thought to myself; yeah, you just shot the goose that laid the golden egg you frickin' dumbass.
It's as if the whole Democratic Party has as their single wittless agenda embarrassing the Commander and Chief - in a time of war. Not only is this moronic strategy not working, it's having the exact opposite effect. Liberal beltway insiders and the phonies in MSM might be high-fiving in the hallways but I can assure you run of the mill democrats are not. Even dyed-in-the-wool-Dem, Joe six-pack the union autoworker - who might have a daughter or son in the military - knows loose lips sink ships. He could give a rats ass if the NSA hears him order a pizza on his cell-phone and he's getting sick of losing political arguments with his Republican neighbor. The Democrats are going to regret this wreckless behavior in '06 and in '08.
