"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." --C.S. Lewis

Hollywood's hypocritical elite embrace eco-nightmare hyper-hummer:
"The Gurkha can go more than 150 kilometres per hour - plenty fast for a military vehicle - and is the highest level of protection you can get next to sitting in a tank, Whyte says. It certainly looks fierce enough.

"The squat 8,620 kilogram vehicle looks every bit the ticked-off hedgehog, bristling with testosterone and armour plating.

"Whyte says the first 40 have been built this year for delivery to the Canadian and the American military in the Middle East. The first civilian delivery is for a "well-known personality" in California that will take place next month, Whyte says. The customer, who is a friend of California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, intends to use it as daily transport, Whyte says. "It's a very California mentality to have the biggest and the best."

"It's also in the spirit of one-upmanship. Schwarzenegger was the first civilian to take ownership of a Hummer military vehicle - which most famously kick-started sales of the armoured car."

MSM empty suits, like the geriatric gang over at 60 Minutes, are way too squeemish - cowardly really - to "investigate" stuff like this. I guess that's why God invented LGF. Shame on western media for washing their hands of the truth of Shariah Law, institutionalized misogyny, and the cultural blight of Islamofascism. As an added bonus, this documentary exposes the NOW gang and all their various global feminist incarnations as the phonies they really are. Leftists have never, ever addressed this kind of ignorance; they're cowards. Liberalism really is a mental disease.

Are you watching main-stream-media or...

...a slow-motion extinction event?

You decide:

I really don't watch much TV any more and I pick up the local paper only once - on Thursday (and free if I can get it) for the Preview section that lists movies, concerts, etc. Why?

MSM's journalistic methodology has jumped-the-shark from being merely sloppy, boring and grossly agendized into abject propaganda. Pathetic really, like watching the last Stegosaurus die.

Re: Court Strikes Down NSA's Intercept Program; Powerline weighs-in:
"John, who is on vacation, has delegated to Scott and me the task of 'dissecting' the district court opinion that strikes down the NSA's intercept program as unconstitutional. In a sense, however, there isn't much to dissect. The opinion is almost devoid of analysis on the key constitutional provisions it relies upon (the court more or less ducks the issue of whether the intercept program is consistent with FISA and completely dodges the issue of whether the president has the inherent power to authorize the intercepts; it reasons that the Constitution trumps the statute (page 39) and that the president lacks the inherent power to violate specific constitutional provisions (pages 40-41)). It is part of my job as a litigator (and has been for more than 30 years) to read and understand judicial opinions. Off hand, I cannot recall reading an opinion as conclusory and content free as the key portions of this opinion. [emphasis mine, ed.]"

"It's also true that much regular text reporting is often faux, as we know (naux?). And we have learned that the vast percentage of war video footage comes from the same source and is therefore tilted it the same direction. What are we to make of all this? Are we all living in a false reality? Pretty much, apparently, and it's not just the normal solipsism we discover as adolescents. One of the few good things to come out of the Israel-Hezbollah War was further acknowledgment of this deception. The nature of news is changing. Few people believe in news organizations as "authorities" any more. The New York Times, as we knew it, is dead. So, to a greater or lesser degree, are its cohorts. We may be moving toward an era in which the most respected news sources are the ones that most honestly admit their biases and make no pretense whatsoever of complete objectivity."

Roger L. Simon

Simon is right but there is good news too. So long as the blogosphere exists the likes of CBS, NYT and Reuters will be outed as the fauxnies they are. The truth will out not by simply embarrasing MSM [they're shameless] but by default. MSM is undergoing an extinction event as notable and meaningful as that of the Stegosauras and it couldn't happen to a more worthy culture of dinosaurs.

Jeff Jarvis to indignant Muslims: "tough shit"
"Reuters reports that Muslims are 'bristling' at the term Islamic fascists. Well, tough shit. I am bristling at the refusal of the Islamic world to condemn the murder and mayhem being rained down around the world by the extremist fascists among them. Rather than attacking the language in press releases, why not hold a press conference attacking the attackers?"

I'm not waiting for condemnation of terrorism from Muslims because, well, they don't condemn terrorism. They don't and that's a big problem the civilized world will have to suffer pending a reformation of their, er, religion [and it ain't gonna happen anytime soon].

This whole pathetic situation is what happens when you infect generations of innocent children with racism, bigotry irrational hatred and a primitive religious zealotry.

"Before the Israeli attack, Lebanon no longer existed, it was no more than a hologram. At Beirut innocent citizens like myself were forbidden access to certain areas of their own capital. But our police, our army and our judges were also excluded. That was the case, for example, of Hezbollah's and the Syrians' command zone in the Haret Hreik quarter (in red on the satellite map). A square measuring a kilometer wide, a capital within the capital, permanently guarded by a Horla army [1], possessing its own institutions, its schools, its creches, its tribunals, its radio, its television and, above all… its government. A "government" that, alone decided, in the place of the figureheads of the Lebanese government – in which Hezbollah also had its ministers! – to attack a neighboring state, with which we had no substantial or grounded quarrel, and to plunge US into a bloody conflict."

"The problem with Lamont and his ilk is that they are unable to wrap their minds around the fact that Islamic Fascsim is a deeply real and pervasive phenomenon with hundreds of millions of adherents and fellow travelers. Surely, these soi-disant liberals think, these people can be reasoned with. But it couldn't be more obvious that they can't . They are imbued with a fanatical religious culture vastly different from and in complete opposition to ours. However, for these "liberals" to face this uncomfortable reality would vastly disrupt their weltanschauung and cost them power, money, position, prestige, etc. It might even cause personality disintegration. This is the Culture of Narcissism gone berserk."

-Roger L. Simon

My take is that guys like "Lamont and his ilk" know their naive followers have fully secumbed to Bush Derangement Syndrome and they're an easily leveraged mob. It doesn't take a particularly intellectual argument or refined policy statement to whip-up these "soi-disant" liberals. Just bare your teeth and utter the latest anti-Bush rant and you have starry-eyed followers going door-to-door with your yard signs. I find it hard to believe Mr. Lamont is as stupid and uninformed as his followers appear to be but I suppose I could be wrong. Maybe he truly does believe that if you simply "dump Bush" and his BushCo neoconservative posse, Osama bin Laden and his Islamofascist bretheren will cease blowing up jetliners, put down their RPGs and return quietly to tend their olive groves. Were it so.

Ben Stein gives us A Few More Little Facts:
"When the Israelis capture Arabs in their wars, the captured Arabs are well fed, well housed, and eventually returned to their homes. When the Arabs (specifically the Syrians) have captured Israelis, they castrate them, cut off their male organs, decapitate the Israelis, and stuff their male organs in their mouths and leave the bodies on the field. Sometimes they also defecate on the bodies."

"'If Mr. Lieberman goes down, the thought-enforcers of the left will target other centrists as if the center was the locus of a terrible heresy, an emphasis on national strength...The Lamont ascendancy, if that is what it is, means nothing other than that the left is trying, and in places succeeding, to take back the Democratic Party.' Concurring opinions, usually thoughtfully expressed, have seemingly come from every citizen of the mainstream, be they Republican or Democrat, with access to a TV camera or modem.

"But they're all wrong. The Democratic Party jumped the shark years ago. There's nothing that will happen tomorrow, be it a Lamont rout or a Lieberman shocker, that will bring the party back to its senses. Similarly, there's nothing that will happen tomorrow that will make the party any more insane, more angry or more destructive."
